The Best Spots To Get Food At Brock

Hey future badgers!

I love food. When I don’t have food, I’m thinking about getting food. When I do have food….I’m still thinking about what I’m going to get next. Food is my pride and joy, and I’m sure I’m not alone in this! I mean, we do need it to live, and it tastes SO GOOD.

As a food lover, you’d think that I would have mastered the art of cooking. Wrong. It’s not that I’m bad at cooking, I’m sure I’d do pretty well actually! However, I don’t have the time to make food, and when I do have time, I’d rather spend it doing other things.

As lazy as this may be, it does mean that I have become very well acquainted with the various food spots at Brock! I’m going to share my insight with you on what’s good, what’s cheap, and what will keep you energized on those loooong days! Here we go!

1. Guernsey Market
Market is our most centrally located food venue on campus. It’s right in Thistle, which will be where a lot of your lectures are held, so it’s super easy to get to!
Some must-try’s at Market include:
– sweet potato fries (they are my go-to!)
– chicken caesar salad
– sandwich station
– black bean burger
– homemade smoothies
– yogurt bar
– literally everything (not even kidding, it’s all delicious)

2. Walker Complex
Walker Complex is home to The Hungry Badger, which is located right next to Academic South (where I have several lectures, so I go there literally all the time!). THB has a self-serve Tim Hortons, which has all the different types of pastries, as well as coffee, french vanilla and hot chocolate machines!
Must-try’s:
– Teriyaki Experience (!!!!)
– hummus and cracker snack packs (great for the mid-lecture break when your stomach starts to talk to you)
– soups

3. Union Station
Union Station is run by our very own Brock University Student Union (hence the name Union Station), and is student-powered, meaning that all the employees are students! If you’re looking for an on-campus job, this is a great place to work!
Must try’s:
– Subway
– Burrito Boyz
– Booster Juice (for when you have a long day ahead and need to stay awake!)
– Ah-So Sushi
– Harveys
– Fortune Cookie
– Sky Bar (upstairs)
– I literally just named every place they have #sorrynotsorry
(remember, you can use your flex dollars everywhere except Burrito Boyz!)

4. Residence Dining (Decew & Lowenberger)
If you live in residence (and even if you don’t) both of these cafeterias are available to get food!
Must try’s:
– salad bar
– loaded poutine
– chicken zinger wraps
– build-your-own-pizza

5. General Brock
General Brock, located in between the Computer Commons and Academic South, is our on-campus convenience store! Like Union Station, GB is run by students, so you could potentially get a job there. They play great music, and have several tables and couches for when you want to study or meet up with somebody!
GB is known for its student-friendly pricing, and periodically will have free coffee for when you’re low on both cash and brain power!

Alright, future badgers! This was just a taste (ha!) of what Brock has to offer food-wise! We are very accommodating here at Brock, so if you have any dietary restrictions, you can talk to Sodexo food service prior to attending Brock and they will make sure you have the appropriate food!

If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can!

Peace out, friends!
Sophie
