Hey everyone!!!

As you all may be very aware, there are many opportunities at Brock University to get involved. Whether you are into sports, volunteering, working with children, music, drama, dance, there is something for everyone! One of my favourite parts about coming to university and specifically Brock is the wide range of activities and clubs we can get involved in here as a student. Here at Brock there are a range of clubs, 80+ to be exact, and the Brock University Students Union makes it possible for anyone to start a club if that is what they would like. Below I will highlight two of the clubs that I have been involved in!

To start off, I was never athletic. This meant that in high school it was quite difficult for me to be involved as much of the involvement included a certain degree of athleticism. When I  started at Brock I knew I wanted to try new things and challenge myself so I joined Brock Dance. Brock dance is one of the larges clubs on campus with many different levels of dance to be involved in. Whether you have never danced before or you have danced since you were five, there is something for everyone !! As well there are kinds of types ranging from ballet, to ballroom, to hip hop and more! Another club that I have really enjoyed being involved in is Brock Choir! In previous years there has not been a choir but my friend wanted to start one up and with BUSU they made it possible! We now meet once a week and it has been amazing being able to continue my interest in singing.

Finally, one of the clubs that has changed my university experience for the better is a christian group called “Power to Change”. In this group we have events, retreats, dinners and more! At Power to Change I  have met so many new people, made countless memories and have been able to continue on my faith!

All that to say, GET INVOLVED! University goes by so quick and you do not want to miss the amazing opportunities that Brock offers! Getting involved is a great way to meet new people, make life-long friends, make memories,  challenge yourself, and try new things! If you have already decided to go to Brock or are still looking around, please be sure to check out our different clubs anyways. It is a great indicator of the amazing experience you will have at university.

Hope this was helpful and inspires you to get involved when you come to university!

About Kristen

Hey fellow badgers! I am a third year student in Child and Youth Studies and my name is Kristen. Through my experience at Brock I have received adequate learning alongside meaningful experiences that have positively influenced my years at Brock. Before university I was very nervous for the transition, but through interactions with professors and fellow students I am completely comfortable and content to call Brock University my home away from home! Through the specific courses and experiences I have had at Brock I have developed a passion to work with youth at risk.
