Coming Soon to Brock University: Final Exams!

Hey everyone! I hope you’re all enjoying the long weekend and you’ve all been spending lots of time with your families πŸ™‚ It was great for me to get to go home and see my friends and family before heading into my last week of classes.

Yup, we’re already heading into the home stretch of the semester which also means that final exams are coming up very quickly! For me, I like to remember a few key tips for surviving the last few weeks of the school year:

First – I like to make sure that I have all my due dates written down and my planner is organized. I have a white board in my room that has a calendar on it, as well as a list where I write down all my assignments that are due and tests that I have coming up. It definitely helps make a huge difference and I stay on top of things a lot better than when I don’t organize my work.

Second – I try as best I can to manage my time well. If I know I have a large gap of time during my day I try to fill it with working on my assignments or studying for tests, that way I don’t end up all stressed out trying to cram things in at the last minute.

Third – I also try as best I can to drink lots of water and eat healthy. It really does help you concentrate better when you’re eating food that’s good for you, and not stress-eating junk food. I always bring a water bottle with me to class and a few granola bars to munch on during the day, and when I’m at home I try to make sure that I stick to eating things like fruits and veggies.

Fourth – Even though I try to fill up as much of my spare time with doing school work and studying as possible, I also try to make sure I take some time to relax and de-stress from everything. Sometimes taking a break can really help when you’re stuck on an assignment!

Fifth – SLEEP!! I always try to make sure I get enough sleep during the last few weeks of the semester, even if that means having to set a bedtime for myself πŸ˜› Believe me, sleep is your best friend during those last few weeks.

Anyway, I hope these tips have been helpful for you to get a good sense of what the last few weeks of the school year are like here at university and you’ll also remember them when you have to write your first few exams next year! Have a great week! πŸ™‚

About Katelyn

Hey everyone! My name’s Katelyn and I’m in my fourth year of the concurrent education program here at Brock at the Junior/Intermediate level with a teachable in French. I have always had a passion for working with children, so I knew that the Con Ed program here at Brock was the perfect fit for me! After I finish my five years here, I hope to work as a French teacher in an elementary school. I also hope to have the opportunity to teach in another country, since I love to travel and experience new places and cultures. I grew up in Kitchener, Ontario, but have been fortunate enough to call St. Catharines my home for the past three years and I look forward to what sorts of adventures I will get up to during my last year of undergraduate studies here. This is also my third year as a Campus Experience Coordinator, so hopefully I can answer any questions you may have about being a university student!
