Hey everyone! Hope you all had an amazing weekend:) I was definitely looking forward to the end of the week by the time Friday came around. One reason in particular was because I was going to the States to do some shopping with my mom.

Living in the Niagara Region, we’re pretty close to the border here at Brock, so we came up with the plan a few months ago to take advantage of this fact. So, on Friday morning my mom drove down from Kitchener and picked me up on the way to Buffalo. It only took us an hour to get to the hotel, so we had lots of extra time to go check out the Walden Galleria Mall. It was huge! I had never been there before so it was exciting to see what stores they had.

Later that night we went to downtown Buffalo to Shea’s Performing Arts Centre to see the So You Think You Can Dance 2012 Tour. Now for those who know me know I’m a HUGE fan of the T.V. show, so I was crazy excited to see some of my favourite performances and dancers live. The theatre was amazing too. It was an older theatre, so the decorations and style of it was beautiful.

The next day we spent the entire morning and afternoon literally shopping until we dropped (my feet were killing me!), but luckily we had dinner at the Cheesecake Factory to look forward to:) If you ever get the chance to go to a Cheesecake Factory, take it, the food there is amazing and their cheesecakes are fantastic (the dulce de leche cheesecake is my personal favourite!). On Sunday, we decided to check out the oulet mall in Niagara Falls, US before we went back over the border, another definite place to check out that is super close to Brock!

Needless to say I was all shopped-out after this weekend and I was also able to get a good start on my Christmas shopping;) When you come to Brock, I would definitely recommend taking trips to the states as a nice break from the craziness of school work, and also as a great way to spend time with your family. Talk to you all later!

About Katelyn

Hey everyone! My name’s Katelyn and I’m in my fourth year of the concurrent education program here at Brock at the Junior/Intermediate level with a teachable in French. I have always had a passion for working with children, so I knew that the Con Ed program here at Brock was the perfect fit for me! After I finish my five years here, I hope to work as a French teacher in an elementary school. I also hope to have the opportunity to teach in another country, since I love to travel and experience new places and cultures. I grew up in Kitchener, Ontario, but have been fortunate enough to call St. Catharines my home for the past three years and I look forward to what sorts of adventures I will get up to during my last year of undergraduate studies here. This is also my third year as a Campus Experience Coordinator, so hopefully I can answer any questions you may have about being a university student!
