Sunday June 3rd was definitely one of the coolest experiences I’ve had so far during my two years working for Brock. 200 incoming Brock students, as well as 50 Brock alumni, current students, and staff members, filled up sections 209/210 of the Rogers Centre to celebrate the incoming first-years’ acceptances to Brock U.
The game was between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Boston Red Sox. Now I know absolutely nothing about baseball, and before Sunday I had never really been to a game, so the whole experience was a big eye opener for me. I realized that going to a Jays game is less about the sport than it is about the crowd. For the several hours that the baseball game actually ran, a relatively small amount of my time was actually spent paying attention to the ball. I was too consumed with my enthusiastic participation in “the wave” which went around the entire Rogers Centre at least 4 times, as well as the deliciously overpriced hot dogs and pretzels. Socializing with other “Brock people” was also a huge highlight!
