My Date with Justin Bieber!!!!!

So last weekend I was in Toronto, just shopping at the Eaton Center, when I ran into … yes that’s right … Justin Bieber!!!! He was like “baby, baby, baby ohhhh like baby, baby, baby ohhhhh….”

April Fools! That didn’t happen. I’m not even really a Justin Bieber fan, I just thought that would get people’s attention.

NOTE: This blog was meant to be posted yesterday but my internet was out. Oops 🙂 Hopefully you can take some of the ideas for next year!

What IS happening is April Fools Day – the most dangerous day to be a university student, especially in residence. I say this because residences are notorious for pranks – all in good fun of course – but on April Fools Day nobody is safe.

I’ll tell you a little story about the best prank that has ever been played on me. My friends and I were going to Costa Rica on a volunteer trip with our school, and our flight left early in the morning. We decided to have a sleepover and all go to the airport together at 3:00 am. I wanted to go to sleep, but they all wanted to stay up until we had to leave – they said, why not just pull an all nighter? Despite their taunts and mockery, I thought they were all crazy and hit the sheets around 10:00 pm. I woke up to my alarm at 2:30 am. I showered, brushed my teeth, ate breakfast and was standing at the door ready to leave when I realized I was the only one ready to go. Long story short, my friends had changed all the clocks in the house. It was only 10:30 pm. I had only been asleep for half an hour. So annoying!!!

I searched the website aprilfoolzone.com for some prank ideas for all of you guys. If you don’t use them this year, save the ideas for next year while you’re in residence! Just be warned: once you start the prank war there’s no going back.

  • Did someone you know leave out an important paper, project, homework, etc.? Then you have a perfect opportunity for a fun prank! Just take some paper that looks somewhat similar to their project. Set their real project aside, and spill a drink or something messy all over the fake project. Say “Oh My God!” and pretend to apologize. They’ll have a major anxiety attack until you surprise them with “April Fool’s!”
  • If you know two people who have identical phones or iPods, and they keep them in different color cases, then you can prank them both at the same time! Just switch the phones inside the cases, giving each person back the correct phone case, but the wrong phone!
  • This prank can be pulled on two victims who have bedroom doors directly across the hall from each other (dorms usually work well for this). Use a rope to tie both door knobs to each other, with just enough slack to allow one door to open a crack. Then knock loudly on both doors at the same time. The victims will end up in a tug of war trying to get out.
  • Put a notice on your victim’s car that it’s for sale. List a very low, yet still realistic price. Include the victim’s phone number.
  • For a college or high school student: right before class, as you are walking into the classroom, ask one of your classmates if they are “ready for the test today?” This will work best if you have another friend who confirms that there is indeed a test that day.
  • “Borrow” your victim’s keys the night before April 1st. Put them in a glass of water and put the glass in the freezer (obviously don’t put any electronic car fobs in the water!). You can use a cork attached to the keys with a twist-tie to float the keys so they stay in the center of the ice. In the morning, leave the glass on the table for them. Or, even more devious: freeze their keys in a big bucket of ice!
  • Find a small picture of a monkey (or anything else you think is funny) and use temporary glue (a glue stick works well) to place it over the photo on the victim’s driver’s license [Emma’s tip – use student card instead]. Then send them out for beer, or find some other excuse to send them somewhere where they will need to show their ID.

HAPPY PRANKING!
