What is Monster Pitch?
Monster Pitch, inspired by the hit TV show Dragon’s Den, is an annual pitch competition held by the Brock Innovation Group (BIG) in collaboration with BioLinc, Brock’s business incubator and the Goodman School of Business at Brock University. The pitch competition allows motivated Brock University students to pitch their business ideas to panel of celebrity judges. Finalists are given the opportunity to network with industry professionals and the winner is awarded a cash prize and in-kind support services to help them kick-start their business venture.
How does Monster Pitch work?
Applications will be assessed by a selection committee, and the top 10-15 business proposals will be chosen to move on to the next round, which includes a pitch presentation to a panel of business experts.
The selection committee will decide upon the final group of students who will be given the opportunity to present at this year’s Monster Pitch Finals held in March. The top 4-5 teams will then pitch to a panel of judges for a chance to win cash and in-kind services to help kick-start their business ventures. Past judges of Monster Pitch include judges from CBC’s Dragon’s Den Jim Treliving and Bruce Croxon.
How BIG is your idea?
With all of the great ideas that students generate, they still need an environment to plan and develop their business venture. Monster Pitch strives to help support young entrepreneurs by providing them with the opportunity to pitch and grow their business venture. With the partnership with BioLinc, students are given the opportunity to use the BioLinc facilities and support services to help young entrepreneurs kick-start their business ideas.
Who can apply?
Monster Pitch is open to all Brock students (undergraduate and graduate) from all faculties and departments. If a team of individuals is applying, at least 50% of the team members must be current Brock students.
