Short Hills Adventure

Do you like everything about camping but the tent? Join Brock BaseCamp for a Short Hills Adventure! This trip is great for students looking to come in early to experience Brock University!

This year we’re continuing a special Short Hills Adventure only for students enrolled in programs in the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences!

The open enrollment Short Hills Adventure brings students together to spend three days and two nights at Camp Wetaskiwin, a local camp on the outskirts of St. Catharines and bordering Short Hills Provincial Park. The camp is home to valley and wooded campsites, freshwater streams, gorgeous scenery and an in-ground pool. There are many trails throughout the forest (including the Bruce Trail) that lead to beautiful waterfalls and offer the chance to see local wildlife, such as red-tailed hawks and deer. This adventure takes place close to Brock University and provides an opportunity for students to get a first-hand look at what the Niagara Region has to offer. Students on the September 4 – 6, 2020 trip will have the opportunity to move into residence early, with the help of their BaseCamp leaders. Email us at: basecamp@brocku.ca for details.

If you are enrolled in any program in the Departments of Health Sciences, Kinesiology, Nursing, Sport Management or Recreation & Leisure Studies, you can participate in a very special Faculty of Applied Health Sciences Short Hills Adventure open only to students in these units. Not only will you experience the fun and camaraderie of an open-enrollment Short Hills Adventure (see above and below for details), but what makes this trip extraordinary is that you have a chance to spend time and make friends with other students with whom you’ll most likely be in class with in the Fall, ask questions to academic advisors about courses, registration, etc. and meet professors, staff and administrators from your Faculty. This is only available on this trip (August 7-9, 2020) and is not offered to students in any other Faculty or on any other BaseCamp experience! Email us at: basecamp@brocku.ca for details!

Reduced fees for the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences Short Hills Adventure are generously supported by the Dean of Applied Health Sciences.

On any Short Hills Adventure trip, you’ll stay in rustic cabins, cook your meals together in a picnic shelter, go for a swim in the in-ground pool, and enjoy guided hiking and exploration in Short Hills Provincial Park. You’ll also have a chance to form long-lasting friendships for your time at Brock and beyond.

You’ll meet new people, learn about what it takes to be successful at university and head into the school year feeling refreshed and confident about yourself. All you have to bring are your clothes, a good pair of hiking boots and a willingness to explore.

Join us for a Short Hills Adventure!
