SPMA 4P98 – 2025 National Bank Tennis Open (July 26 to August 7)

The Major Games field courses provide students with experiential opportunities to prepare them for careers at events such as the 2024 World Rowing Championships, 2023 Grey Cup Festival, Pan Am Games, Women’s World Cup of Soccer, Commonwealth Games, 2022 Canada Games, and more!

In 2025, at the National Bank Tennis Open in Toronto, students with knowledge in sport management, fan engagement, corporate partner activation, promotions and sponsorship, business, event management, and more will gain the experience for careers in the expanding global sport event industry.

The Major Games Field Course is designed for students seeking experiential opportunities in their field of study while volunteering at an international events including the 2025 National Bank Tennis Open

The goal of these courses is to advance applied and experiential learning, critical thinking, problem solving, event management, and cultural awareness through volunteer experiences at a major sporting event.

The flexibility embedded in the design of these courses enables students to their volunteer roles at the sporting event and the location.

The half-credit options available in the Major Games Field Courses enable students in fields of study from across Brock’s campus to hone their skills by assisting in volunteering at the 2025 National Bank Tennis Open in Toronto (Live the Toronto Experience | National Bank Open).

SPMA 4P98 HALF-CREDIT COURSE DESCRIPTION

The half-credit opportunities (SPMA 4P98 – link) enable students to volunteer in fundamental roles as part of the promotions team with the National Bank Tennis Open.

Application – Interested students must complete BOTH the SPMA 4P98 Application Form and the Tennis Canada Volunteer Application (see below):

  • Once you click the link, fill in your first name, last name, email address, and select “Volunteer” for the “Volunteer Role” field
  • Once you submit the form, you will receive an email in your inbox with a link to the actual application
  • Click the blue “Login” button in the email to open the application
  • Select “I do wish to volunteer this year”
  • Fill in the application and click submit
  • Once you submit your application, you will receive a confirmation email acknowledging your submission. Please note that this email provides information about our volunteer hiring fairs, but that does not pertain to this group.

Commitment:

These are the minimum requirements and commitments that all National Bank Open volunteers must meet:

  • Be available to work a minimum of 42 hours over the course of the tournament (to consist of either six 7-hour shifts or seven 6-hour shifts depending on the committee)
  • Be available to attend a training session and collect your uniform, accreditation and the rest of your volunteer package approximately 4 weeks before the tournament
  • Agree and adhere to all the National Bank Open volunteer policies
  • Complete all stages of the application process, including submitting a passport-format head shot for accreditation purposes
  • Download and complete tasks on the SpacesEDU mobile app prior to and during the WRCs
  • Submit post-event reflection paper

All shifts will be completed at Sobeys Stadium, Toronto, ON .

  3. Use knowledge of effective techniques to foster inquiry and engagement in the sport event setting (Communication).
  4. Embrace the values of citizenship, sportsmanship, social inclusion, professionalism, respect and diversity at the sport event to enhance the experience of athletes, spectators and others at the NBTO (Citizenship).
  5. Use your understanding of how event logistics and management guide the overall integration of activities undertaken at the NBTO and support an appropriate environment for all participants at the Games (Applied Knowledge).
  6. Be a reflective professional who actively seeks to further self-knowledge and seeks opportunities to grow professionally (Lifelong Learning).
