A funding package is financial support for our full-time students in research-based graduate programs and includes a fellowship and an assistantship.
Fellowship
Brock guarantees our full-time, research-based graduate students a fellowship for the defined length, which is normally two years, of their graduate program (unless the student receives an external scholarship or funding). If a student receives an external scholarship or funding, they will receive a Dean of Graduate Studies (DGS) Excellence Scholarship instead.
The annual graduate fellowship is divided equally amongst the three terms (Fall, Winter, and Spring) and posted to your student financial account (my.brocku.ca) at the beginning of each term. It will be directly applied to any outstanding tuition. SPMA MA students will have fellowship support for three terms.
The fellowship is not available for part-time students. For students with a remaining positive balance, a refund may be requested after the last day to add/drop the course.
Assistantship
The optional paid assistantship can include a Teaching Assistant (TA) or Research Assistant (RA) position. The SPMA MA specialization reserves TA positions for their graduate students and the Department of Sport Management Chair is responsible for hiring and coordinating student hours. The rate of pay is governed by the CUPE collective agreement. Students need to be eligible to work in Canada to receive assistantship positions.
