My research focus is understanding the intracellular signaling pathways that are activated and control muscle glucose transport, metabolism and the defects contributing to insulin resistance/diabetes. An additional research focus is understanding cancer biology and the defects leading to enhanced cell proliferation. My goal/aim is to find food components, nutraceuticals, or functional foods that could modulate certain signaling pathways and be used against insulin resistance /diabetes and cancer.
