  • Update for August 10, 2022

    On August 9, 2022, and in accordance with the Policy on the Appointment and Reappointment of the President and Vice-Presidents, the Advisory Committee held a consultation with Senate regarding its preferred candidate to serve as Brock’s next President and Vice-Chancellor.  Following the consultation, the Committee met to discuss any feedback received from Senate.  The Committee passed a motion regarding the candidate to serve as Brock’s next President and Vice-Chancellor which will be forwarded to the Board of Trustees for consideration of approval during a special Board meeting on August 11, 2022.

  • Update for June 9, 2022

    The Advisory Committee on the Presidency held a meeting on June 9, 2022.  During the meeting, the Committee continued its review of potential candidates, and the process to appoint Brock’s next President and Vice-Chancellor continues to move forward.

    A meeting of the Advisory Committee on the Presidency was held on May 2, 2022. With the assistance of the executive search firm, Perrett Laver, the Committee continues its review of and engagement with potential candidates. The process to appoint a new President and Vice-Chancellor continues to move forward on schedule.

  • Update for April 7, 2022

    A meeting of the Advisory Committee on the Presidency was held on April 7, 2022. The Committee continues to make excellent progress in the search for the next President under the guidance of the executive search firm of Perrett Laver. There has been keen interest in the posting for the Presidential position, and the Committee is working with Perrett Laver to review potential candidates.

  • Update for February 17, 2022

    The Advisory Committee on the Presidency held a meeting on February 17, 2022. During the meeting, members discussed with the executive search firm, Perret Laver, timelines, feedback received to date, a preliminary draft position profile and draft advertisement, and media advertising outlets. The Committee anticipates that the position profile and advertisement will be finalized and posted prior to the end of February. The Committee continues to accept feedback and input from the university community, including candidate recommendations, which can be provided directly to the search consultant at: emily.jarvis@perrettlaver.com

  • Update for January 26, 2022

    The Advisory Committee on the Presidency held a meeting on January 26, 2022.  During the meeting, members discussed with the executive search consulting firm, Perrett Laver, the needs and challenges facing the University and the attributes of a next President.  Each Committee member expressed their individual views directly to the search consultant.  If a member was unable to attend the meeting, the individual will meet separately with the search consultant to provide their feedback.

  • Update for January 13, 2022

    The Committee on the Presidency held a meeting on January 13, 2022. During the meeting, it was confirmed that the RFP sub-committee had completed its work and that an external search consulting firm has been engaged to lead the search for the next President and Vice-Chancellor.  The Committee was introduced to the lead consultant and an additional meeting with the external consultant is being planned for late January to discuss details and next steps in the process.

  • Update for December 15, 2021

    The Advisory Committee on the Presidency held a meeting on December 15, 2021. During the meeting, it was confirmed that the student representatives on the Committee who have graduated (BUSU President and GSA President) may continue to serve on the Committee for the remainder of its work. In keeping with Policy on the Appointment and Reappointment of the President and Vice-Presidents, the Committee received feedback from the Senate and the Board regarding the issues and challenges facing the University in the ensuing decade and what characteristics/attributes a President should possess in that context. The Committee received an update from the Request for Proposal (RFP) Subcommittee regarding the work underway to retain an external search consultant.

  • Update for November 16, 2021

    The Advisory Committee has transitioned to a search committee, in accordance with the provisions of the Policy on the Appointment and Reappointment of the President and Vice-Presidents, with a slightly updated membership. The Committee met to approve its updated committee procedures and review the search process. The Committee determined that an executive search consultant should be engaged and has established a subcommittee to finalize a Request for Proposals for search consultants and select a consultant on the basis of the submissions received. The Committee also determined the consultation process that would be followed for the consultation required to be undertaken with Senate and the Board of Trustees regarding the needs of the University. The Committee discussed its meeting schedule and communication expectations and will continue to meet regularly to ensure the process proceeds in a timely manner.

  • Update for June 7, 2021

    In light of the announcement on May 18 that President Fearon will be departing the University, the work of the Advisory Committee on the Presidency with respect to the reappointment of the President and Vice-Chancellor has been paused over the summer months.
