Mrs. H. P. Thomas, Jane Addams' Friend, Is Dead

Mrs. Harriet Park Thomas, social worker and close friend of Jane Addams died yesterday in the home of her son, Dr. William A. Thomas, 5639 Kimbark Avenue, after a long illness. She was 70 years old.

Mrs. Thomas was born in Knoxville, Tenn. Since 1895 she had lived with her children in Chicago. From many years Mrs. Thomas worked with Miss Addams in the woman suffrage movement.

Later they were active together in peace organizations, particularly during the world war. Mrs. Thomas represented Miss Addams at the departure of Henry Ford's peace ship and also attended the World's Congress of Women at the Hague in 1915, when she was secretary of the Woman's Peace Party. Mrs. Thomas was also interested in the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom.

Surviving are her two sons, Dr. William and Edward B., and her husband, Prof. William Isaac Thomas, of New York, formerly of the University of Chicago. Funeral services will be private.
