Death of Simon Reid.

Simon Reid, senior member of the firm of Reid, Murdock & Co., who died at his residence in Lake Forest Saturday, was born in 1929 in Morayshire, Scotland. When 14 years old he came to the United States, and in 1854 entered into partnership with Thomas Murdock. This was in Buffalo. In 1865 the partners came to Chicago and have been in the wholesale grocery business at No. 3 State Street since that time. Mr. Reid was an elder of the Presbyterian Church at Lake Forest, and an active member in all things related to its advancement. He was a quiet, unostentatious business-man with a kindly heart and genial disposition, which won for him the respect of all with whom he came in contact.
