Notification of Contractor Work - Welch Hall 300 Level - Starting Week of July 28th, 2014

Please be advised that starting the week of July 28th, 2014 contractors will be working completing classroom modernization work in Welch Hall 327. As part of this project, electrical work will take place to run electrical from the modernized classroom down the hall between Welch Hall 327 and Welch Hall 320. No disruptions to pedestrian traffic flow are anticipated. Some noise disruptions may occur as work is completed in the surrounding areas. Please click here to view area of work.

Notification of Hydrant Flow Testing - Thursday July 24, 2014

Please be advised that on Thursday July 24, 2014, from approximately 8:00 am to 4:00 pm work will be completed by Facilities Management staff to complete backflow testing on a meter chamber for Cairns Complex. Once the work has been completed a hydrant water flow test will be required from the fire hydrant located outside of Mackenzie Chown Complex J Block by the small traffic circle. Service will not be disrupted during the flow testing process but water will be seen coming out of the hydrant during the test. There is a possibility that main campus occupants could experience water that appears slightly discolored or water that contains bubbles. If water does appear discolored it is advised that the tap be run until the water runs clear. Click here to view map of area of work.

Notification of Contractor Work - Front Island of Schmon Tower - Starting Tuesday July 15th, 2014

Work has begun in the island in front on Schmon Tower to construct a limestone base and associated plaza and garden, creating the future home of the bronze sculpture of Sir Isaac Brock which is expected to arrive in late September. This work started on Tuesday July 15th and is anticipated to be completed by Friday August 29th, 2014. Work will take place Monday to Friday from 7:30 am to approximately 5:00 pm. Some noise disturbances will occur as the work is completed. No disruption to traffic flow is anticipated. During the course of the work, temporary interruptions of traffic may be necessary and will be communicated in advance of start of work. Notification of Consultant Work (Asbestos Survey) – Starting Monday July 21st, 2014

Campus project to gather info for new asbestos-location system. Buildings include: Concordia Lutheran Seminary, Kenmore Centre, Taro Hall, Student Alumni Centre, Rosalind Blauer Daycare Centre, Harrison Hall, Scotiabank Hall, South Block, Rodman Hall, 573 Glenridge and Plaza Building.

Notification of Painting - Plaza Building - Starting Thursday July 10, 2014

Please be advised that beginning Thursday July 10, 2014, contractors will be painting the main corridors of Plaza building at the east and west ends near elevators. This work will begin on the 6th floor and contractors will work their way down through each level over the course of approximately 3 weeks. Contractors will be using an air scrubber to mitigate any odours from the zero VOC paint being used. There are no corridor disruptions anticipated. Please exercise caution when traveling through area of work.

Update: Notification of Entrance Issues - Cairns Family Health and Bioscience Research Complex - Tuesday April 2nd, 2014

Please be advised that one set of the east end entrance doors, including the accessible door operator to the Cairns Family Health and Bioscience Research are currently unavailable for use. A permanent solution for door replacement is being investigated. Accessible access is available via the north and south entrances of the building.
