The Faculty of Education is delighted to announce that Dr. Joe Barrett, Assistant Professor in the Department of Teacher Education, has been named to the Physical and Health Education Canada (PHE Canada) board of directors.
PHE Canada is our nation’s premier professional organization for physical and health educators. Members are predominantly educators working in the school system, the administrators who support them and the university professors engaged in pre-service teacher training and in research in physical and health education. Through a range of programs, resources and initiatives, PHE Canada supports schools in becoming “Health Promoting Schools” that include the provision of Quality Daily Physical Education and fostering healthy school communities.
Dr. Barrett will begin his two year term as the board's Ontario representative after the PHE Canada AGM at the national conference scheduled in late October 2013. He is currently serving out his final year of a two-year term as Chair of the Council of University Professors and Researchers, a national council that provides a collaborative and coherent voice for scholars and professionals in the fields of physical and health education teaching and research in Canada.
