This half day conference is exclusive to new Brock University Co-op students. Kick off your co-op career on September 6, 2014 at co-op orientation from 12:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Attending Orientation will allow you to hear industry speakers from companies such as KPMG, First Ontario Credit Union, Hamilton Tiger Cats, Meridian Credit Union and many more speak about co-op related topics, talk to alumni and meet students.

Workshop #1
Networking the Right Way, Presented by KPMG

Networking can seem daunting; it is a vital tool in today's job market, yet it can also be intimidating to new co-op students entering the workforce. Networking the right way will help simplify the task by providing you with five useful tips that will be helpful in growing your co-op career and an opportunity to practice our networking secrets.
 

Workshop #2
Managing Money to be Ready for Co-op, Presented by First Ontario Credit Union

Money on Trees is a financial literacy blog that was created as a guide to help young adults find resources to financial information to their everyday money management questions. This workshop will highlight some of the unique challenges faced by co-op students today, so they can better equip themselves to make informed financial decision prior to your first co-op term.

Open Mind - Open Career, Presented by Executive Vice-President of Hamilton Tiger Cats

How having an open mind has allowed Brock Co-op Alumni and Executive Vice-President of the Hamilton Tiger Cats, Douglas Rye to climb the corporate ladder and how you can use the same strategy throughout your co-op experience.
 

Workshop #4
Involvement 101 & Impact on Your Resume, Presented by Meridian Credit Union

In this session you will gain skills and knowledge to expand your network through community involvement. Learn about the value and impact of investing your time in the community and benefit it will have on your co-op resume and the perception of co-op employers.
 

Workshop #5
First Impressions and Standing Out as a Co-op Student from Day 1, Presented by TMP Worldwide

Learn ways to be unique, likeable and how to go the extra mile to prove that you are one of a kind in skills, talent and personality. Looking professional goes a long way, to be physically dressed for success is maybe 50%, but what about your digital presence (how you dress online – think social media).
 

Workshop #6
Interview Tips to Get Resume Experience from Day 1, Presented by The Insurance Institute of Ontario

Experience on your resume will give you an Edge when you apply to jobs for co-op. This experience needs to start now, not in two years. This workshop will provide interview tips to help you prepare for those interviews. What are employers really looking to hear?
