Scholarly Journals at Brock

Since 2012 the James A. Gibson Library has provided a journal hosting service to support the publication of open access, peer reviewed scholarly journals. "Scholarly Journals at Brock" is offered in collaboration with Scholars Portal staff and the Ontario Council of University Libraries (OCUL), a major development partner in the Public Knowledge Project (PKP)

 For Journal Editors

The Library pays for the hosting service, which enables us to support Brock journals with the following services:

  • a dedicated Brock OJS installation housed on the OCUL Community Cloud in Toronto
  • Unlimited disk storage for journal content and support files
  • Unlimited journals per institution
  • Regular upgrades to the operating system and the OJS software
  • Daily backups with secure offsite tape storage
  • Indexing and archiving in Scholars Portal Journals (requires separate local load and archiving agreement with each journal publisher). This exposes the content to a large audience for search and discovery and provides for its long-term preservation.  An archiving agreement between OCUL and the journal publisher is required for this service.  In order to participate, journals must have acquired ISSNs and use some form of documented peer review for publication
  • Support to Brock’s designated site coordinator during normal business hours
