The Office of Human Rights and Equity Services is proud to be part of Brock’s university-wide commitment to provide facilities, programs and services in a way that respects the dignity and independence of persons with disabilities.

Temporary Disruptions

The Office of Human Rights and Equity Services does not offer drop- in service and does not have reception services, therefore all individuals seeking advice or assistance need to arrange an appointment in advance by contacting the us by email or phone to make an appointment at 905-688-5550 ext. 5657 or humanrights@brocku.ca.  If there is a service disruption that affects a previously arranged appointment, staff from the Office of Human Rights and Equity Services will contact you directly by email or phone to reschedule the appointment. Getting to the Office of Human Rights and Equity Services

The Office of Human Rights and Equity Services is located in the east end of DeCew Residence (see map: http://www.brocku.ca/facilitiesmgmt/CAMPUS-MAP-LRG.html), Rm. 221.

Arriving by Taxi

If you are arriving by taxi:

  • Have the taxi take you to the north entrance of the Gordon and Bette Vallee Residence at the entrance marked Conference Services.  (Directions to the north entrance of the Gordon and Bette Vallee Residence: Enter the Brock University campus via the north entrance off Glenridge Drive. Take the first exit (Amy Woodfield Drive) off of the traffic circle.  Turn left onto Residence Road and enter into the second driveway on the left.)
  • Enter the building by the doors located directly under the Conference Services sign;
  • Proceed through the building and to through doors directly ahead;
  • Turn right and proceed down the hallway through the set of doors until the next hallway;
  • Turn left down the hallway and the Office of Human Rights and Equity Services is the first office on the right.   
  • Please note door operators and ramps are available throughout this route to the Office of Human Rights and Equity Services.

Arriving by car:

If you are arriving by car:

  • The closest accessible permit parking is located in K lot (see map: http://www.brocku.ca/facilitiesmgmt/CAMPUS-MAP-LRG.html)
  • Directions to  K lot:
    • Enter the Brock University campus via the north entrance off Glenridge Drive.
    • Take the first exit (Amy Woodfield Drive) off of the traffic circle. 
    • Turn left onto Residence Road and enter into the second driveway on the left.
  • Direction to OHRES from K lot:
    • Enter the north entrance of the Gordon and Bette Vallee Residence marked Conference Services. 
    • Proceed through the building and to through doors directly ahead;
    • Turn right and proceed down the hallway through the set of doors until the next hallway;
    • Turn left down the hallway and the Office of Human Rights and Equity Services is the first office on the right.  
  •  The closest accessible pay-and-display parking is in E Lot where parking is provided for $2.50 per hour. (see map: http://www.brocku.ca/facilitiesmgmt/CAMPUS-MAP-LRG.html)
  • Directions to E lot:
    • Enter the Brock University campus via the north entrance off Glenridge Drive.
    • Take the third exit (University Road East) off of the traffic circle
    • Take the first driveway on the left to enter E lot
  • Directions to OHRES from E lot:
    • Take the pedestrian pathway along University Road East toward the main portion of the campus.
    • Take the pedestrian walkway between MacKenzie Chown Complex  and the Cairns Family Health and Bioscience Research Complex
    • Enter the south entrance way of Taro Hall and proceed through the building and exit the building through the north doors.
    • Take the pedestrian path around Jubilee Court
    • Enter DeCew Residence via the most easterly entrance. The door way is across from a sculpture of a tree growing out of a rock.
    • OHRES is the second office on your left. 

Arriving by public transit to the main entrance at Schmon Tower

  • Enter the Schmon Tower
  • From the Schmon Tower lobby, proceed right until you pass Tim Hortons and are facing a set of stairs.
  • Turn right and then left through the door ways and proceed down the hallway and out of the doors.
  • Turn left and take the pedestrian walkway around Jubilee Court.  
  • Enter DeCew Residence via the most easterly entrance. The door way is across from a sculpture of a tree growing out of a rock.
  • OHRES is the second office on your left. 

 

Accessible Washrooms

The closest accessible individual washroom (power-operated door) is available in the Schmon Tower Lobby directly in front of the elevators.

Support Persons & Service Animals

Service Animals are permitted. Support persons are permitted to attend any event, workshop, program or service provided by the Office of Human Rights and Equity Services. While most of our services are free of charge, however, where charges do apply, service persons will be admitted free of charge.
