A Message for Family Members
Brock University students spend numerous hours at their studies towards achieving their academic goals. The conflicting demands of study, work and home may cause them, at times, to fall behind in these studies. This, in turn, may cause them to make decisions that could have an impact in all aspects of their life.
Technology has made it tempting for students to take “short cuts” to academic success – through acts of cheating and plagiarism. For example, students may cut-and-paste passages from websites and insert them into essays or other assignments. Or they may use a cellular phone to text message a friend during a test or exam.
Brock University takes matters of academic dishonesty seriously. Any act of academic misconduct will be disciplined. Students could receive a penalty of a failing grade on assignments, failure in their course, a Disciplinary Notation on their record, a withdrawal from their program of study, a suspension or an expulsion from the University.
You can help by supporting academic integrity at Brock University. If everyone involved takes integrity seriously, we can all be proud of your achievements.
See you at convocation.
