Published on October 17 2013

On Thursday, October 17, students from the Faculty of Education's PMPCP program will be singing the National Anthem at the Niagara IceDogs game.

The Professional Masters Preparation Certificate Program (PMPCP) is designed for international students who have completed undergraduate degrees and who wish to pursue graduate studies in North America. The PMPCP is dedicated to assisting these students to overcome foreseeable academic and cultural difficulties and to acquire the necessary understandings and skills to make the transition to graduate work smoother and ultimately more successful.

The PMPCP is offered jointly by the Faculty of Education and the Faculty of Business of Brock University in English as a full-time program to international students. The program prepares international students for master level studies in North America with the following objectives:

  • To develop a cultural understanding of teaching and learning in North America.
  • To develop advanced writing skills for academic and professional purposes.
  • To develop the capacity for graduate study and communication in English in an academic environment.
  • To develop the necessary English oral language skills for effective formal and informal communication, presentations and interactions.
  • To develop an appreciation for the collaborative pedagogy of graduate studies.
  • To develop culturally relevant group problem-solving and teamwork skills.
  • To develop required confidence for full participation in the classroom interactions.
  • To develop critical thinking and analytical skills required for graduate studies.
  • To develop an academic profile and statement of research interest for further studies

This program is one of the few programs of its kind in Canada with a strong focus on knowledge and skill development through an interdisciplinary approach. We offer students an enriched approach in education through education and business foundations with specialized course requirements, English language training, and preparation for a Master's Degree
