Notification of Contractor Work - A Lot and A Lot Reserved Parking - Starting Monday August 31, 2015

This message is being sent on behalf of Information Technology Services Please be advised that on Monday August 31, 2015 and Tuesday September 1, 2015, contractors will be working running a new fibre optic line. This work will involve directional boring across A Lot Parking (Zone 1) to the north side of A Lot Reserved (Zone 1) and will require sections of each parking lot to be closed as the work is completed. Parking will still be available in each of the lots with access available from Flora Egerter Way and University Road East. Alternate parking will also be available in S Lot and Zone 2 (Lots T/U/V). Notification of Tree Removal - Main Campus

Please be advised that contractors have been working removing a number of dead and dying Ash trees on the Main Campus that were infested with the Emerald Ash Borer. This work will continue until approximately Thursday August 27th, 2015. When possible please avoid the areas and exercise caution when travelling around areas the contractors are working.

Notification of Localized Power Shutdown - Walker Complex A - Tuesday August 25th, 2015

Please be advised that on Tuesday August 25th, 2015, from approximately 9:00 pm to Midnight, Facilities Management will be completing work that will require power to be shut down to some areas of the 100 and 200 Levels. Notification of Planned Hot Water Shutdown - Mackenzie Chown B Block - Wednesday, August 26, 2015

Please be advised that on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 from 8:00 am until approximately 12:00 noon, domestic hot water will be shut down in B Block to allow for repairs to hot water recirculation line. Cold water to sinks and toilets will not be affected.

Notification of Roofing Work - Beginning Monday, August 24, 2015 - Taro Hall

Please be advised that beginning Monday, August 24, contractors will be repairing the roof of the north stairwell in Taro Hall. Work will take place between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm each day for approximately 5 days, weather permitting. Please exercise caution if you must travel through area of work. Notification of Renovation Work - Thistle 100 Level - Beginning August 2015

Please be advised that contractors will be completing classroom and office renovation work in Thistle Complex 100 level until December 2015. This work is anticipated to take place between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm daily. Renovation work will include some demolition work so some minor noise disruptions may occur in surrounding areas at various times. Areas of work include office space along the perimeter of the Guernsey Market dining area on the 100 level of Thistle, and along the north hallway of the 100 level of Thistle. See attached drawing for areas of work.

Notification of Contractor Work – Inniskillin Hall - Starting Monday, August 10, 2015

As part of the Mackenzie Chown Fire Alarm Replacement project, please be advised that contractors are continuing to work throughout the Mackenzie Chown Complex to install a new fire alarm system and decommission/remove the old system. Contractors work overnight (Monday through Thursday) from 8:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. One crew will be working on all floor levels of Inniskillin Hall starting Monday, August 10, 2015. Work will continue in these Blocks until approximately late-August. Work continues throughout the entire Complex on fire alarm network equipment terminating in C Block. Subsequent notices will advise when work progresses to other blocks within the Complex.

Notification of Contractor Work - Accessibility Improvements Jubilee Court - Starting Monday July 27th, 2015

Please be advised that starting Monday July 27th, 2015 contractors will be performing accessibility upgrades and improvements to exterior ramps in Jubilee Court. This work will start with the areas around the south entrance of Decew by Stairwell 6 and the south entrance at Vallee. Alternate entrances/exits can be found at Decew by stairwells 5 and 15. Entrances will be signed and emergency egress will be maintained. Some noise disruptions and dust are anticipated as the work is completed. Please click here to view area of work. Upcoming accessible upgrades will take place upon completion of these upgrades to the Decew stairwell 5 and 15 access ramps and a new ramp will be added on the north side of Vallee.

Notification of Application of Larvicide - All Owned and Leased Properties - July 6 to Sept 14, 2015

Please be advised that from Monday July 6, 2015 to Friday September 14th, 2015, Brock University will conduct a larviciding program under the authority of the Medical Officer of Health, Regional Municipality of Niagara, to control larval mosquitoes in order to prevent their development into vectors of West Nile virus. Notification of Roadway Restriction to Vehicular Traffic - Walker Complex Aquatic Centre - Starting July 13, 2015

As part of the Aquatic Centre Structural Repair project, scaffold erection on the east exterior elevation of the Eleanor Misener Aquatic Centre is nearing completion and erection on the north elevation has begun. Due to the size and complexity of the scaffold, two locations must project slightly onto Alphie’s Lane – the northeast and northwest corners outside the Aquatic Centre. In order to protect the scaffold and workers from vehicular traffic, concrete barriers will be installed on Monday, July 13, 2015. Signage, pylons, and reflective tape on the scaffold will warn drivers of the roadway encroachment. This scaffold will remain in place until early December 2015. Notification of Contractor Work - Walker Complex Aquatic Centre - Starting June 22, 2015

Starting June 22, 2015, contractors will begin work at the Walker Complex Aquatic Centre, performing interior structural work above the pool deck, and exterior structural work around the building perimeter. This work will not impact the daily operation of the pool and is anticipated to be completed by mid-December, 2015. In preparation for this work to start, a site trailer will be set up on Thursday June 18th, 2015 and will be located on the north side of Walker Complex outside of the rowing centre. The site trailer will remain until the project is completed and will be located on the grass area. The trailer location will not impact traffic or pedestrian routes. Click here for map.

Notification of Roofing Contractor Work - Beginning May 21, 2015 - Thistle Complex

Please be advised that contractors will begin roofing work on the north side of Thistle Complex on Thursday May 21, 2015. Work will take approximately 8 to 9 weeks to complete, weather permitting and will take place daily Monday to Friday from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm. As the work is completed crews will be set up in the area between the north Thistle stairwell and the Thistle elevator near the loading dock. Some noise disruptions and occasional odors are anticipated as the work is completed. Please note that TH 151A-EX1 door will be designated “Emergency Exit Only” for the duration of this work. Notification of Upcoming Bridge Replacements and Road Closures - Niagara Region - Starting Monday March 30, 2015

Please be advised that Brock University has received notification that phased work to replace two Regional Municipality of Niagara bridges will be undertaken during the period commencing Monday March 30th, 2015 and continuing through to August 2016. With information also provided at the Public Information Centre, held Monday March 30, 2015, the bridges to be replaced, along with their dates of closure, are: A. Beaverdams Road Bridge: Road 67 (Beaverdams Road, east of Highway 406) will be closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic at the bridge from April 6, 2015 to August 2015. B. Power Canal Bridge: Road 50 (Merrittville Highway, west of Highway 406 and immediately south of Decew Road) will be closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic at the bridge from August 2015 until August 2016. The Region has identified detour routes that can be used during the closure periods for both bridges and those routes will be signed by the Region accordingly. Notification of Contractor Work in Mackenzie Chown - Beginning Monday, January 12, 2015

As part of the Mackenzie Chown Fire Alarm Replacement project, please be advised that over the next 9 months, contractors will be working throughout the Mackenzie Chown Complex to install a new fire alarm system and decommission/remove the old system.
Crews will be working overnight (Monday through Thursday) from 8:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. Two crews will be working in A Block and B Block over the next 4 weeks, before progressing into other blocks. A third crew will be working over the next 5 months on fire alarm network equipment terminating in C Block. Subsequent notices will advise when work progresses to other blocks within the Complex.
