9th Annual
Mapping the New Knowledges
Graduate Student Research Conference

“Mapping the New Knowledges is a central component to the University’s declared vision and contributes to the crossing of disciplinary boundaries for faculty
and students on many levels each year”

                                                                                            — Mike Plyley, Dean, Faculty of Graduate Studies

The Faculty of Graduate Studies invites students and faculty from all 42 programs to be part of the line-up of events for 2013-14.

See the conference website for the schedule for this year's Research Cafés and full-day conference in April 2014.

Why Mapping matters to you

• Graduate students gain rewarding professional experience when presenting their research in these enthusiastic environments

• Through the conference, graduate students meet, interact and exchange ideas with students from all parts of the University

• Student CVs are bolstered by evidence that graduate students not only undertake research, but disseminate their findings

• Strong CVs listing successful conference presentations will support applications for scholarships

Last year's conference videos

Part 1: Research Café I, Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012, “Mapping Your Future”
A panel shared their stories about the journey from graduate studies to careers, and the opportunities and challenges they found along the way. Watch videos of the presentations.

Part 2: Research Café II, Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, “Environmental Sustainability in a Changing Climate”

Three Minute Thesis ® Contest
As a new addition to the conference lineup of poster and oral presentations, the contest was open to students who are very far along in their Master's or PhD thesis work i.e., at the final stages of writing their thesis, or have recently defended but not yet graduated. Watch videos of the presentations.
