Human Rights

is a resource for all members of the Brock community (students, staff, faculty and visitors) to provide information, education, assistance and advice on a wide variety of issues related to harassment and discrimination. Our mandate and services address all forms of harassment and discrimination. This includes harassment and discrimination on the basis of race, ancestry, place of origin, colour, ethnic origin, citizenship, ancestry, creed, sex, gender identification, gender expression, sexual orientation, age, marital status, family status, receipt of public assistance (in housing), record of offences (in employment) and disability, as well as personal or workplace harassment. OHRES works in close partnership and cooperation with many other departments and services on campus to prevent harassment and discrimination from occurring and to quickly address incidents as they arise. OHRES staff will assist community member with issues or complaints of harassment and discrimination and will assist that person to understand the range of options available to resolve the situation.  Please see Using Our Services for how to access the office.

To promote a respectful work and learning environment at Brock University that is inclusive, celebrates diversity and provides all our members with a work and study environment free of harassment and discrimination.

Our Mission

  • Promote diversity and prevent harassment and discrimination through increased awareness, education and training for all community members
  • Provide the university community with a central resource for assistance in addressing issues of harassment and discrimination
  • Increase coordination and cooperation between university departments and services to promote diversity, inclusion and accessibility
  • Administer the Respectful Work and Learning Environment Policy to promote diversity and address all issues of harassment and discrimination on campus
