Donald Wright completed his PhD at the University of Ottawa. His thesis on the professionalization of history in English Canada before 1960 is forthcoming from the University of Toronto Press. Stemming from his interest in Canadian historical writing, cultural history and political history, he is now writing--with the support of a SSHRC Standard Research Grant--the biography of Donald Creighton, 1902-1979. As one this country's greatest writers, Creighton articulated and defended an English Canadian identity rooted in Canada's imperial past. In addition to the biography, Wright is editing the correspondence of Donald Creighton and Eugene Forsey. To be published by the University of Toronto Press, this marvelous collection of letters between two of English Canada's senior intellectuals gives us insight into Canadian federalism, the Quiet Revolution and Ontario politics.
Donald Wright teaches courses in Canadian cultural, intellectual and political history. He also teaches the introductory survey course in Canadian Studies.
Donald Wright has published articles in the Canadian Historical Review, the Journal of Canadian Studies and the Journal of the Canadian Historical Association. He has also edited Canadian Studies: An Introductory Reader (Kendall-Hunt, 2004).
