Murray Wickett is the author of Contested Territory: Whites, Native Americans and African Americans in Oklahoma, 1865-1907 (Louisiana State University Press, 2000). He also wrote "The Fear of Negro Domination: The Rise of Segregation in Oklahoma," published in the Chronicles of Oklahoma (Spring, 2000). Wickett has published numerous book reviews in journals such as the Western Historical Quarterly, Urban History Review, and the American Historical Review. He teaches American history at Brock University with a specialization in Native studies, African American studies and multiculturalism in the United States. His current research is detailed study of race relations during the Gold Rush era in California. He is also working on a study of the African Canadian community in the Niagara region in the late nineteenth century.
