What is the Winning at Life With the Badgers?
Winning at Life with the Badgers is a community
outreach program
that Brock Athletics is introducing during its 2001-2002 athletic
season.
It involves the student-athletes from Brock University visiting
schools in
the Niagara region and sharing their experiences as student athletes
based on one of the:
"Five principles for Winning at Life"
The principles are:
1. Believe in Yourself
2. Set and Develop Goals
3. Overcome Obstacles
4. Commit and Challenge Yourself
5. Importance of Positive Role Models
How do the Presentations Work?
Your school can request a specific athlete/topic/sport,
or you can have
a series of presentations. Students will make presentations stressing
one of these principles while sharing their experiences as a student
athlete.
This program is a definite benefit to the children, the athletes,
and the
Brock community as a whole.
Athletic teams involved in the program
Thus far we have athletes volunteering from men's
and women's hockey,
men's and women's soccer, women's volleyball, men's and women's
basketball, baseball, lacrosse, curling, swimming, rowing and cross
country.
We anticipate all of our sports to be on board soon. Many of our
athletes
have extensive experience in other sports and leadership experiences.
Why should I consider the Winning at Life program?
This program offers students a chance to interact
with a local role model
while gaining some intriguing life lessons.
