Undergraduate Sessional Dates

 

An academic timetable (Registration Guide) giving the times and locations of all courses offered in any one session (Fall/Winter, Spring or Summer) is available on the Registrar's Website at: http://www.BrockU.CA/registrar/birtguides/index.htmlprior to the beginning of the session. NOTE: All dates refer to undergraduate studies unless otherwise specified.

SPRING 2004

Monday, May 3

First day of classes for duration 1 and duration 2 courses. Please consult the Spring and Summer Registration Guide for further details.

Monday, May 10

Last day for duration 1 and duration 2 late registration and course changes without permission of the instructor. BIRT closes for duration 1 and duration 2 adds; last day to drop courses without financial penalty. After this date, manual course change requests are required.

Monday, May 24

Victoria Day. University closed; library open.

Friday, May 28

Last day for withdrawal without academic penalty and last day to change from credit to audit status for duration 2 courses. (see note 1)

Friday, June 4

Last day of lectures for duration 2 courses.

Friday, June 4 and Saturday, June 5

Progress examinations for duration 1 courses and final examinations for duration 2 courses.

Monday, June 7 to Thursday, June 10

Spring Convocation.

Monday, June 7

First day of classes for duration 3 courses.

Last day for duration 3 late registration and course changes without permission of the instructor. BIRT closes for duration 3 adds; last day to drop courses without financial penalty. After this date, manual course change requests are required.

Friday, June 25

Last day for withdrawal without academic penalty and last day to change from credit to audit status for duration 1 courses. (see note 1)

Thursday, July 1 and Friday, July 2

Canada Day closure. University closed; library open.

Friday, July 2

Last day for withdrawal without academic penalty and last day to change from credit to audit status for duration 3 courses.

Friday, July 9

Last day of lectures for duration 1 and duration 3 courses.

Friday, July 9 and Saturday, July 10

Final examinations for duration 1 and duration 3 courses.

SUMMER 2004

Monday, July 12

First day of classes for duration 1 courses. Please consult the

Spring and Summer Registration Guide for further details.

Friday, July 16

Last day for duration 1 late registration and course changes

without permission of the instructor. BIRT closes for duration 1 adds; last day to drop courses without financial penalty.

After this date, manual course change requests are required.

Sunday, August 1

Last day for receipt of applications to graduate at Fall

Convocation.

Monday, August 2

Civic holiday. University closed; library open.

Friday, August 13

Last day for withdrawal without academic penalty and last day to change from credit to audit status for duration 1 courses.

Thursday, August 26

Last day of lectures for duration 1 courses.

Thursday, August 26 and Friday, August 27

Final examinations for duration 1 courses.

FALL 2004

Wednesday, September 1

First day of Fall/Winter Session, duration 1 and duration 2 (Pre- Service Education Program).

Monday, September 6

Labour day. University closed; library closed.

Thursday, September 9

First day of Fall/Winter Session, duration 1 and duration 2, day and evening sections (undergraduate program).

Friday, September 24

Last day for duration 1 and duration 2 late registration and

course changes without permission of the instructor. BIRT

closes for duration 1 and duration 2 adds; last day to drop

courses without financial penalty. After this date, manual

course change requests are required.

Monday, October 11

Thanksgiving Day. University closed; library closed.

Saturday, October 16

Fall Convocation.

Sunday, October 17

Fall Open House.

Friday, November 5

Last date for withdrawal without academic penalty and last

day to change from credit to audit status for duration 2

courses without academic penalty.

Thursday, December 9

Last day of lectures Fall, duration 2 courses (see note 2).

Friday, December 10

Snow day/reading day (see note 3).

Monday, December 13

First day of term, Winter Term, Pre-service Education Program.

Saturday, December 11 to Thursday, December 23

Progress examinations for duration 1 courses and final

examinations for duration 2 courses.

Friday, December 24 (noon) to Sunday, December 26

Saturday, January 1 (12:00 am - 12:00 pm)

University closed; library closed.

Monday, December 27 - Sunday, January 2

Reduced access to University services.

WINTER 2005

Monday, January 3

University reopens. Winter Term resumes, Pre-Service

Education Program.

Emergency examination date (December exams).

Tuesday, January 4

First day of Winter Term, undergraduate programs.

Monday, January 17

Last day for duration 3 late registration and course changes without permission of the instructor. BIRT closes for

duration 3 adds; last day to drop courses without financial penalty. After this date, manual course change requests are required. Last date for withdrawal without academic penalty

and last day to change from credit to audit status for

duration 1 courses.

Monday, February 14 to Friday, February 18

Reading Week. No classes will be held in undergraduate programs.

Friday, February 18

President's Holiday. Administrative offices closed; Registrar's Office and library open.

Tuesday, March 1

Last day for receipt of applications to graduate at Spring Convocation.

Friday, March 4

Last date for withdrawal without academic penalty and last day to change from credit to audit status for duration 3 courses.

Sunday, March 13

Spring Open House.

Monday, March 14 to Friday, March 18

Spring break. No classes will be held in the Pre-service Education Program.

Friday, March 25

Good Friday. University closed; library open.

Tuesday, April 12

Last day of lectures for durations 1 and 3 courses.

Wednesday, April 13 and Thursday, April 14

Snow/Reading day(s) (see program note 2).

Friday, April 15 to Thursday, April 28

Final examinations for duration 1 and duration 3 courses.

Notes:

1.  The May 28 day in Spring D2 term will be used to replace Victoria Day classes. The schedule will be that of a Monday.
  The June 25 day in Spring D3 term will be used to replace Canada Day classes. The schedule will be that of a Thursday.
2.  The extra day in the Fall Term will be used to replace
  Thanksgiving Day classes. The schedule will be that of a Monday.
3.  A snow day will be used to cover classes missed because of adverse weather (if needed). Otherwise, it will be a reading day.
  The day of the week missed will determine the replacement schedule for classes.
