CRISS Research Proposal

CRISS Research Awards are open to all BUFA members appointed to the Faculty of Social Sciences. These funds may be requested in order to support research and scholarship projects. Individuals may only hold funding as PI for one research proposal at a time.  A final report for any previous CRISS Research funding must be submitted prior to a new CRISS Research submission. The financial account for any prior CRISS Research funding must be closed prior to submission.

    Your proposal should be no more than four pages and include the following sections: Context and brief literature review; Objective(s) and significance; Methodology. It is important that the committee be able to understand both the importance of the research project and how you intend to carry out the research.
  • Please provide 3-4 sentences that describe your project. If you are successful with your CRISS proposal, this description will be used in online public announcements to help promote your research.
  • CRISS Funding Request

  • Please provide a complete budget for the project (note that the CRISS award will not exceed $3,000). If your budget exceeds $3000, please be sure to indicate exactly which costs will be covered by the CRISS grant. If you are hiring a research assistant, current rates of pay as set by HR should be used. Ensure that your budget is fully justified including funds from other sources. If your formatting does not easily transfer into the text box., please upload a one page budget PDF.

  • All researchers are encouraged to apply for both internal and external sources of funding for these research projects. Please provide a listing of other scholarship/grants (if any) for which you have made application to support this research project.
  • If previous CRISS Research funding has been received, please provide a 150 word summary of how the funding was used to advance research and scholarship in the Faculty of Social Sciences.
