Message from the Dean
Welcome to the Faculty of Social Sciences at Brock.
We are home to a vibrant group of scholars engaged in cutting-edge research. While our department includes traditional social science disciplines such as economics, geography, political science and psychology, we also offer interdisciplinary fields like child and youth studies, communications, social justice and equity and tourism and environment.
We have a growing reputation for research, but we also remain true to Brock's commitment to excellence in teaching and close contact between students and faculty members. Our introductory courses combine small group seminar instruction with larger lectures. Nearly all of our senior-level courses are small seminars, which allow for significant interaction with instructors and other students.
In our Social Sciences programs, you will learn to think critically and argue persuasively. You will gain important job-related skills in methods of research, and data analysis and interpretation. You will understand how cultural, economic, political, psychological, and social phenomena influence human behaviour. You will gain the theoretical and practical knowledge necessary to live an informed life, and to make your communities and the world a better place.
I invite you to explore our many programs. You can get directly from our page to those of most departments and programs in the Faculty for specific information. For more information, please contact me at 905-688-5550 x3425, by mail (Office of the Dean of Social Sciences, Brock University, St. Catharines, Ontario, L2S 3A1, Canada), or by email (tdunk@brocku.ca).
