Admission Requirements

Master of Arts (MA)
Successful applicants will hold an Honours (4-year) Bachelor's degree (or its equivalent from an accredited university outside Ontario) with a minimum average of 75% in their last 2 years of study in a related field (e.g., psychology, sociology, social work, child studies, education). Undergraduate courses related to disability studies and Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), an Honours thesis and volunteer or work experience specifically in disabilities and/or ABA will be considered assets. GREs are not required, nor will GRE scores be considered. Community College diplomas and certificates, while considered assets, do not replace the 4 year university degree. Students with 3-year (pass) Bachelors are encouraged to complete their 4th year of university before applying to this program. Please see FAQ #1 for more information on Admission requirements. Master of Applied Disability Studies (M.ADS)
Successful applicants will hold an Honours (4-year) Bachelor's degree (or its equivalent from an accredited university outside Ontario) with a minimum average of 75% in their last 2 years in a related field (e.g., psychology, sociology, social work, child studies, education). Student who have averages between 70-74% in their last two years of study are also encouraged to apply.  Undergraduate courses related to disability studies and Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), an Honours thesis and volunteer or work experience specifically in disabilities and/or ABA will be considered assets. GREs are not required, nor will GRE scores be considered. Community College diplomas and certificates, while considered assets, do not replace the 4 year university degree. Graduate Diploma
Successful applicants will hold an Honours (4-year) Bachelor's degree (or its equivalent from an accredited university outside Ontario) with a minimum average of 75% in their last 2 years (or equivalent) in a related field (e.g., psychology, sociology, social work, child studies, education). Undergraduate courses related to disability studies and Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), an Honours thesis and volunteer or work experience specifically in disabilities and/or ABA will be considered assets. GREs are not required, nor will GRE scores be considered. Community College diplomas and certificates, while considered assets, do not replace the 4 year university degree. Students with 3-year (pass) Bachelors are encouraged to complete their 4th year of university before applying to this program. Students who have a completed Master's Degree may wish to take this programme to upgrade their educational qualifications in disabilities and ABA.  Admission for these students is still based on the above mentioned criteria.

Degree Requirements
MA students must take a minimum of five full course credits. This path of study involves advanced courses, practicum experiences and intensive research resulting in a thesis based on a scientist-practitioner model. If a student wishes to follow the ABA field, then the student will take 4 of the 5 credits in our BACB approved ABA courses.

Master of Applied Disability Studies (MADS) students follow essentially the same degree requirements as the MA, except that instead of completing a research thesis, students take a research project course. Of course, MADS students may specialize in ABA and take our BACB approved ABA courses. If a MADS student wishes to complete a thesis instead of a research project, then the student will need to apply and be accepted into the MA program for their remaining years of study.
