Need a Tutor - Tutoring Guidelines

Thank you for considering the “Need a tutor” service of the Student Development Centre. Before you submit your request we would like to make you aware of some important guidelines of this service:

Financial obligations: Our service of matching you with a qualified tutor is free of charge. However, it is your responsibility to pay your tutor. The pay for your sessions should be negotiated with your tutor before your first meeting. It is recommended to pay your tutor at the beginning of every session.
Privacy: On the request form we are asking for contact information so that we or a potential tutor can contact you. We always forward your first name and the contact information that you provide to a potential tutor. Please indicate if you want us to hold back any contact information you provide us with.
Tutor request form: Please fill out the Tutor request form completely. This includes your student number, your first and last name, contact information and the specific course code of the subject you are requesting assistance with. Also, it is important to answer the all questions on the form. Incomplete forms will not be considered.
Tutor Match: The Tutoring Registry maximizes their efforts to match you with a qualified tutor as timely as possible. However, there cannot be a guarantee that we can fulfill all requests if no qualified tutor is available. You will be notified timely in this case and we will keep you updated on the search progress.
First meeting: The location of your session is solely up to the arrangement you make with your tutor. However, we recommend having the first meeting taking place in a public location on campus to minimize any first contact hesitations.
Plagiarism: Your tutor is expected to help your understanding the course material of the assisted subject. However, your tutor cannot be expected to solve any assignments or to write any papers for you. This is plagiarism and is strictly prohibited.
