A Message from the BURA President
It seems that only yesterday we were beginning the new fall season. Now it’s almost Christmas. I’m afraid it really is true: time tends to speed up as we age—no, make that “ mature.” It goes even faster when you’re having fun, and I can assure you that your Executive has indeed been having fun, working on your behalf.
And we have accomplished quite a bit in the past few months including improvements to your health coverage and now an examination of an even more comprehensive policy which we hope to bring to the membership in the near future.
A new system of contacting our members regarding our monthly meetings has been instituted. There is still a few bugs in that, but we’ll work them out, so please be patient. If you do not receive a monthly notice either by email or by telephone, please let us know, either in writing at bura@brocku.ca or by phone to our co-ordinator, Anne Beresford.
Our winter program is ready to go. We think you will enjoy the activities we have planned for you. (They are listed elsewhere in these notes.) I know some of you will have to endure the hot sun of the tropics during the winter, but the rest of us will be just as warm right here where we can enjoy the fine dining and the friendship associated with BURA membership.
You might be interested in hearing about a reduction in the membership fees for CARP, an organization familiar to many Brock retirees. There will be more about this at an up-coming meeting.
The Executive welcomes your input. If you have any comments about our programs or suggestions for speakers and activities, we encourage you to contact one of us to let us know what you are thinking.
On behalf of the Executive of BURA, I want to wish you all a very happy holiday season and all the best in 2012. May the New Year bring you good health and good fortune.
Sincerely,
Don MacRae
