Auditing
Auditing a course
| audit (o-dit) v. to attend a course without working for or expecting to receive formal credit. (Merriam-Webster Online, 2003) |
Students admitted to the university may audit a course provided that space is available. After the first day of classes, students wishing to audit a course must have their request authorized by the course instructor on an Add/Withdrawal form. Completed forms must be submitted to the Office of the Registrar (Schmon Tower, Room 301).
The university will be reducing the number of statements mailed to students and will be adding other methods of communication including postcards, e-mail and bulletins posted on the student portal. An option will be available through the registration system to calculate fees owing. Students are financially responsible for any courses in which they have registered. Failure to receive a statement does not excuse a student from the responsibility of payment.
Course Audit Fee
The charge for auditing a course is 50 percent of the normal course fee or the withdrawal charge at the time of the change to audit status, whichever is greater.
Changes to credit status
A request to change from audit to degree credit status must be received by the Office of the Registrar no later than the last day to add a course (of that duration) in the term. Students must satisfy all academic and prerequisite requirements.
A request to change from degree credit to audit status must be submitted to the Office of the Registrar no later than the last day to withdraw from a course (of that duration) without academic penalty for that course duration. Please consult the information on Course Withdrawals.
