1. How do I know when the pool is open for me to come swimming?

Go to the Public Swimming page to see the schedules for 2 weeks in advance. If you need further information, or are inquiring about the schedule for a specific date in the future, please call 905-688-5550, ext. 4089.

2. What is the rule at the pool regarding swim pants, diapers, etc.?

Tots who come swimming during the Fun and Leisure Swim with their parent must wear Swim Diapers. No cloth or disposable diapers are allowed. This rule applies to swimming lessons as well.

3. Do you have a family change room?

Parents bringing children of opposite sex should have them change in the family change room. Clothing must be removed from the cubicles in the family change room. Coin lockers are available for your belongings.

4. I don't own a bathing suit, can I wear shorts and a t-shirt instead?

Proper swimming attire is required; street clothing is not permitted. For males, a swim suit that is used only for swimming may be worn in the pool; underwear must not be worn underneath. For females, a swim suit in one piece or two may be worn that consists of bottoms and a top.

5. Can I be on the pool deck while my child is swimming during lessons or fun swims?

Yes, however you need to be wearing proper swimming attire as described above. Otherwise, you are welcome to sit in the pool gallery.

6. As a parent, what do I do on the first day of my child's lessons?

Please go to the Welcome Desk to sign the parental consent if you have not yet done so. Bring your child(ren) down to the appropriate change room to prepare them for the pool. Come to the deck and look for the sign that coincides with your child's lesson group. Have your child sit beneath it and wait with your child until the instructor arrives. After your child(ren)'s lesson is over please return to the deck to get your child(ren).

7. Can I use the whirlpool?

Yes we do have a co-ed whirlpool which is located on the pool deck. Persons who are 15 years of age and over are welcome to use it. A hand stamp (proof of paid admission) is required to access the pool & whirlpool.

General

1. Where is the Walker Complex located on campus?

The Walker Complex is located at the west side of the Brock campus. Maps of the Brock campus and directions to Brock University are available at www.brocku.ca/maps/

2. Are you open on holidays?

Watch the web site brocku.ca/recreation-services for holiday hours. Often, the Walker Complex is open for reduced hours even when the University is closed. Generally, the Walker Complex is closed on statutory holidays.

Parking

1. Where is the closest parking to the Walker Complex?

Lot P is located to the west of the front entrance of the Walker Complex, and is a coin/credit card lot. The cost of parking in Lot P is $2.50 per hour.

Lot D is across the street from the front entrance of the Walker Complex, and is accessed from Isaac Brock Blvd. West, beside the Daycare Centre. Lot D is $6 per entry.

2. I’m bringing my children to swimming lessons for 10 weeks? Is there any other option for parking?

For those from the community who are registered through Recreation Services for courses, we have a special 10-punch pass available for $21. This allows you to park in Lot D, and not have to worry about paying each time. The punch passes are available at the Welcome Desk in the Walker Complex.

These passes are not available to Brock students, staff or faculty.

Using the facilities of the Walker Complex
1. How can I use a locker?

In the locker rooms, and by the Zone, there are day use coin lockers (50 cents). There are day lockers (no locks on them) in the locker rooms, which you can use while you work out, by bringing your own lock, or by renting a lock at the Equipment Room for the day ($1). We have limited lockers available for rent by the term, check the board behind the Welcome Desk for sale dates.

2. How do I register for a swimming lesson, or one of the courses offered by Recreation Services?

To register, you may visit the Welcome Desk in the Walker Complex in person, or call 905-688-5550, ext. 4060. If you are phoning to register, please have your VISA or Mastercard number and expiry date available

Facility Hours

1. How do I find out when I can use the Walker Complex facilities?

Go to brocku.ca/recreation-services and go to Facility Hours, you will see schedules posted for the Walker Complex, the Welcome Desk, the Zone, the Aquatic Centre and a Facility (gym) schedule.
