Professor Deborah Zinni was honoured with the Right Management HR Academic of the Year Award at the annual Human Resources Summit Awards held on January 26. Professor Zinni works tirelessly to enhance the HR profession and was recognized for her many contributions. In addition to her ongoing academic research addressing HR issues, Professor Zinni has authored several textbooks and worked with the Faculty of Business to increase the number of students studying HR by assisting with the development of the HR concentrations in the MBA and MSc programs. Beyond the classroom, Professor Zinni has sat on many committees at Human Resources Professionals Association (HRPA) in the Professional Standards and Education Standards division. She has participated as a working committee member of MINERVA Canda, sponsored by IAPA, to encourage teaching of Health and Safety in Post Secondary education. She is the Past President of the Toronto West Human Resources Professional Chapter, and twice a year, she helps students prepare for their national certification (CHRP) sponsored by the Canadian Council of Human Resources Association (CCHRA). Professor Zinne spent 20 years as a practitioner before entering academia.

The human resources function has become recognized as a key driver of organizational performance and success. The HR Summit Awards are designed to recognize individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the human resources profession and business community through the implementation of innovative human resources programs and practices as well as thought leadership.
