Introduction
Dr. Cheng Luo is Associate Professor of Linguistics/Applied Linguistics. He has taught and carried out research at universities in China, Canada and Thailand. He is currently also an adjunct professor with Wuhan University, China, and holds visiting professorship with Guangxi University and Xiangfan University, China.

Teaching
Dr. Luo has taught a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses in linguistics and applied linguistics (TESL), including syntax, semantics, pragmatics, discourse analysis, language testing, research methodology, second language acquisition theories, and sociolinguistics. He is currently teaching the following courses:

Research
Dr. Luo’s research interests include language universals in typological linguistics, focus structure, second language literacy, and acquisition of second language high digit numerical expressions.
Service
Dr. Luo has served in various capacities at Brock University and in the community at large. His past and current roles include Grammar Coordinator of the IELP program, department Chair, DALS Graduate Program Director, active member of Brock International’s International Visiting Scholar Mentorship Program, member of the Research Ethics Board, the Departmental library representative, reviewer for the journal Linguistica Atlantica, and the St. Catharines Chinese School special counselor.
