She joined Brock University in 1999 and taught in the inaugural Master of Accountancy program which started in January 2000. She has a passion for helping students understand the role of accounting as it affects the decision–making process of an organization. She is particularly proud that five of her Masters students have gone on to pursue doctoral studies in Accounting.

She has published in several journals including the Journal of Accounting, Auditing and Finance, the Journal of Accounting Literature and the Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization.
Prior to entering academe, Professor Sainty received a Retail Co-op diploma (Honours) from Humber College and worked in the retail industry for several years. Her interest in the budgets and numbers as a retail manager led her to explore other career options which eventually led to the accounting profession.
A qualified chartered professional accountant (CPA), she also holds the legacy designations of chartered accountant (CA) and certified management accountant (CMA). She articled at Ernst & Young, LLP and keeps active in the accounting profession. Currently she sits on the Board of Evaluators for the uniform final exam (UFE) in the CA process and has served on the Examinations Committee at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario. She has been active in the CPA process writing cases for the new CPA modules and championing Brock’s CPA accreditation process.
