Collaborative Study in Geomatics

This program is designed for students who are interested in geomatics. It is available to Brock students who maintain a 70% average in their courses, and who wish to declare Geography as their major.

About the Program

Brock University and Niagara College have teamed up to develop a Concentration in Geomatics. In just four years, students in the Concentration in Geomatics earn both an Honours degree (BA or BSc) from Brock University and a Certificate in Geographic Information Systems – Geospatial Management from Niagara College.

Sub-disciplines of geomatics include:
  • geographic information systems (GIS)
  • remote sensing
  • surveying and mapping
  • global positioning systems (GPS)
This program is designed to include both theoretical and practical knowledge that provide students with a variety of career and post-graduate opportunities in:
  • Emergency preparedness
  • Environmental management
  • GIS analyst/consultant
  • Map design and production
  • Municipal, provincial and federal governments
  • Tourist industry
  • Urban planning
