Tom Saint-Ivany joined Brock in June 2005 as Executive Director, Facilities Management. Facilities Management provides maintenance and operations services, custodial services, and campus planning, design and construction services to the University.
He was appointed Associate Vice-President, Facilities Management in October 2008 and also served as Interim Vice-President, Administration from February to October 2012 with additional responsibilities for Campus Security Services, the Department of Residences, and the Brock Centre for the Arts.
A graduate of the Royal Military College of Canada (1983) in civil engineering, Saint-Ivany had a 21-year career in the Canadian Armed Forces. As a Military Engineer Officer, his career included UN missions in Cyprus as the Canadian Contingent Engineer and the former Yugoslavia where as a Sector Engineer he coordinated engineering support to troops from Poland, Denmark, Nigeria, Finland and Canada. For his efforts, Saint-Ivany was awarded the Chief of Defence Staff Commendation, a national military award. In addition to combat and construction engineering postings, he was appointed Chief Operations Officer at the Canadian Forces College. Following retirement from the Forces, Saint-Ivany was the Controller of Plant Services at the Niagara Catholic District School Board and Superintendent of Facilities Services at the Simcoe County District School Board.
Saint-Ivany is a registered Professional Engineer in Ontario and Alberta and is a graduate of the Canadian Land Forces Command and Staff College, the Canadian Forces Command & Staff College, and the University of Manitoba’s Senior University Administrators Course. He is married to Marie (nee Dee) and they have two sons.
