The Chancellor plays a vital role in advancing the University and the educational welfare of Brock students. For instance, the Chancellor confers all degrees and diplomas. Ned Goodman — BSc, MBA, CFA, LL.D. — was installed as Brock’s seventh Chancellor in October 2007. The appointment is for a three-year term.
In a career of more than 40 years, Goodman’s impact as a securities analyst and portfolio manager has helped shape Canada’s investment management industry. As founder and CEO of Dundee Corporation and Dundee Wealth, and as chairman of Goodman and Company, he shapes an impressive offering of financial services and investments.
Goodman has also founded the Goodman Institute of Investment Management at Concordia University in Montreal, where he serves as an adjunct professor and a member of the Associates of the Chancellor.
He contributes widely to community-building as chairman emeritus of the Canadian Council of Christians and Jews, a governor of Junior Achievement of Canada, a vice-chair of the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario and a member of the Toronto Society of Financial Analysts and the Canadian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy. He is a founding director of the Roasters Foundation, the Jodamada Foundation and the Dynamic Fund Foundation.
Goodman completed his undergraduate studies in science at McGill University and graduate studies in Business Administration at the University of Toronto. He achieved a Chartered Financial Analyst from the University of Virginia in 1967. A doctorate of laws, honoris causa, was conferred upon him by Concordia University in 1997.
