BLCS Community Involvement Plans for 2012
The Flora Broley Memorial Tournament: In support of Alzheimer's Niagara, Brock Leaders Citizenship Society will be hosting their fourth annual Ball Hockey tournament. The tournament will be held the first weekend of April 2013, and in the past has been successful at raising over $15 000.
Senior Citizens Prom: The senior citizens prom is an event held in the Niagara community as an evening of fun, food and dancing for senior citizens.
Talent for Hunger: The money raised by the talents show will be used to purchase oatmeal for an amazing breakfast program that is being run in the town of Capricorn in South Africa. This program provides a bowl of oatmeal to over 80 children every day who otherwise would not eat. The impact that a bowl of oatmeal has on these children's lives and educational experiences is incredible.
DSBN Academy Initiative: The DSBN Academy is a Niagara based school for students who come from low income families. DSBN Academy is aiming to set these students up for success and allow them the opportunity at post-secondary education. Brock Leaders Citizenship Society will be working with the Academy to help pass on their knowledge of how to be a leader and become involved in the community.
Oncology Breakfast Fundraiser: The Brock Leadership Citizen Society will be holding their second annual all-you-can-eat breakfast this year. Proceeds will be going towards the Walker Family Cancer Centre. This year the goal is to grow this initiative over last year. In the past it has been a tremendous success raising over $1 040 before lunch!
