BioLinc would not have been possible without the generous support of our government partners. In January 2012, the Federal Economic Development Agency of Southern Ontario’s Prosperity Initiative (FedDev) provided $843,500 to Brock University to be used as seed funding for Brock BioLinc.
The funding was announced under the leadership of St. Catharines MP Rick Dykstra, on behalf of Minister Gary Goodyear, Minister of State for FedDev Ontario.
Created in 2009, FedDev Ontario operates to reinvigorate economic development in southern Ontario. FedDev’s different initiatives support many different kinds of industry including biosciences, manufacturing and other sectors. FedDev’s Prosperity Initiative encourages businesses, not-for-profit organizations and post-secondary institutions in
southern Ontario to undertake new projects aimed at stimulating the economy. These exciting projects will result in a more productive, diversified and competitive economy, thus driving economic and community development. The initiative allows grants and contributions for innovative entrepreneurs to succeed in the competitive world of
business. The funding will support projects like BioLinc, which provides resources to help new entrepreneurs fortify their business practices.
