Travelers from outside Canada:
Many visitors to Canada do not require visas; check the Citizenship and Immigration Canada website to determine whether you do as these must be obtained prior to your departure for Canada. For all visitors, please check the list of requirements for entry to ensure you have proper documentation for visiting Canada -- and the US if you are flying into Buffalo then proceeding to St Catharines. Presenters might want to bring a copy of the email accepting their abstract and/or a copy the program as proof of their participation in the conference, especially those traveling across the Canada-US border.
Getting to Brock...
St Catharines is close to three major airports:
The airport in Hamilton primarily serves vacation destinations in Mexico and the Caribbean, as well as several Canadian cities; it is about 45 minutes from St Catharines. Pearson International Airport, about 75 minutes from St Catharines, is the largest and busiest airport in Canada and serves over 150 destinations worldwide; if you are flying from outside North America, this is probably your best option, especially for direct flights. However, there are many daily flights between Buffalo and major US cities and hubs such as New York and Chicago, so flying to one of these destinations then connecting to Buffalo is also an option worth exploring. The Buffalo airport is about a 45-minute drive from St Catharines, though the time varies depending on the border crossing which can see high volume particularly on holiday weekends (please take this into consideration when booking your travel).
For train service to and from St Catharines, please visit the VIA Rail site. There is also daily service from New York city (Penn Station) to Toronto via Amtrak and VIA on the Maple Leaf line which stops in St Catharines.
Shuttle service and charters from the airports:
Niagara Airbus is one of the Niagara region’s premier providers of 24-hour, door-to-door airport shuttle service to and from Pearson International Airport and the Buffalo International Airport. They also service Hamilton International Airport via their private vehicle service. Niagara Airbus has a large fleet of Lincoln town cars, full-size passenger vans, mini-buses accommodating up to 24 passengers, and larger 39-passenger buses for local sightseeing. To make a reservation or for more information, please visit their website or contact them directly at (905) 374-8111. Please note that reservations must be made in advance and cannot be made upon arrival at the airport.
Other transportation from the airports:
Coach Canada offers daily (though limited) service to/from the Buffalo International Airport and the St Catharines bus terminal in downtown St Catharines. The Toronto Airport Express connects Pearson Airport with several downtown Toronto locations; these include the Toronto Coach Terminal (for access to inter-city buses) and the Fairmont Royal York Hotel (directly across the street from Union Station for access to VIA trains).
