The Student Access Guarantee is an initiative created by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, to help support postsecondary students in Ontario. The Guarantee states that no qualified Ontario student should be prevented from attending school because of a lack of financial support programs. Students should have access to resources to help pay for tuition, books, and mandatory school fees.
In order to be considered for the student access guarantee, you must apply for, and accept, OSAP funding. For most students, OSAP funding will be sufficient to address financial need under the Student Access Guarantee. If OSAP funding isn’t sufficient to address your financial shortfall for tuition, books, and mandatory fees, you may be eligible for additional assistance under the Guarantee.
If you are in a first-entry (undergraduate) program, the student access guarantee is automatic. If you are in a second-entry (graduate or teacher education) program, you must apply for assistance in order to be considered.
The University may address your shortfall through scholarships, bursaries, or work-study programs. For second-entry students, the university may also refer you to a student line of credit program for funding.
Your Student Access Guarantee eligibility is automatically calculated based on your OSAP application. For more information on the program, visit the OSAP website . To find out more about the OSAP program, please get in touch with our office . We will be happy to help!
