The Council for Research in the Social Sciences (CRISS) advances research and scholarship through the administration of small research grants awarded to faculty members through a peer-reviewed, transparent process adjudicated by a committee of faculty members that is Chaired by the Associate Dean, Graduate Studies and Research.
Calls for CRISS funding proposals will be presented three times per year, with deadlines at noon on the first business day on or after February 1, May 1, and October 1.
Call For Proposals
The deadline for the next round of CRISS research and event funding proposals is February 2, 2015 at 12 noon.
Normally, an annual funding limit of $ 2,000 per award type per individual applies for the fiscal year that runs May 1 - April 30. There are no changes to the event funding regulations; however, as agreed at the May 2014 Chairs and Directors meeting, the maximum amount for a research award (only) at each of the next two competitions (October 2014 and February 2015) will be $3,000. Researchers who received an award in either the May 2014 or October 2014 competitions are eligible to submit an application at the February 2015 competition to request additional funding up to an overall annual maximum of $3,000. This increase in the maximum request for research awards will apply only for the fiscal year 2014-2015.
