In 1999, the Werner family of Niagara donated a steel blade sword that was used in the War of 1812 to Brock University Athletics and the Steel Blade tournament was born. In celebration of the bicentennial, the Brock men’s hockey team is returning to the tournament’s original format, as played in 1999 with one game competition against the University of Guelph Gryphons. As part of the celebrations, the fife and drum corps will lead a processional of representatives and team captains for a ceremonial faceoff. Children are invited to have their faces painted as part of the celebration.
