Part 1: What's possible? 1:30-2:30pm
Faculty Perspectives on Teaching with Wikipedia
Dr. Jonathan Obar, Wikipedia Education Program Coordinator and instructor at Michigan State and U of T will give an overview of the Education Program and some of the interesting ways faculty have used Wikipedia in their courses.
Dr. Nicola Simmons, Brock University Faculty of Education will share her Scholarship of Teaching and Learning research from her graduate education course that integrated Wikipedia into reflective assignments.
Dr. Dale Bradley, Brock University Department of Communications, Pop Culture & Film used Wikipedia in his fully online 2nd year communication course in New Media.
There will be plenty of opportunities to interact and ask questions to explore ways of using Wikipedia in your teaching and scholarship.
Part 2: Where do we start? 3-4pm
Hands-on Intro to Editing Workshop, facilitated by Jonathan Obar. This part of the session is BYOD (bring your own device); participants will need a laptop or mobile device with web connectivity.
Laptops are available for loan from the James A Gibson Library circulation desk.
