Minimum Wage Increase Effective June 1, 2014 and Online Contract System – Update

Further to our communication in December 2013, we are writing to provide information regarding ongoing improvements to the online contract system, as well as confirm increases to minimum wage effective June 1, 2014. 

Changes to Minimum Wage:

Effective June 1, 2014, minimum wage will increase from $10.25 to $11.00 per hour.  As a result, any contract or timesheet authorization that reflects a rate less than $11.00 per hour will be updated to reflect the new minimum.  Human Resources will update timesheet authorizations already approved.


Improvements to the Online System:

HR has continued to review the part-time and student rate schedule and contract system with those individuals that regularly utilize the online system.  The following improvements have been completed to date:

·         Increased the number of fixed-coded rates and job titles in the drop down menu that will reduce data entry errors and expedite the entry and authorization process, ultimately providing the final contract to the employee in a more timely manner;

·         Eliminated the “Other” category in the drop down menu and reduced the number of unique job titles that will improve the University’s ability to maintain internal equity through the application of consistent rates for work performed across the University;

·         Provided training sessions related to the Contract System for those who are new to using the system or as a “refresher” to continuing employees.  Over 130 individuals have already attended this training and the sessions continue to be offered monthly (register at
