The Department of Mathematics & Statistics and Faculty of Education at Brock University is excited to announce its participation in this year’s Math Kangaroo Contest, an international mathematics contest for students in grade 1 to grade 12. The purpose of this contest is to introduce youngsters from grade 1 to grade 12 to math challenges in a fun and enjoyable way, thus inspiring their further interest and advancement in mathematics.
The Math Kangaroo Contest, offered in both English and French, was founded in 1991, and in 2001 was launched in Canada. Last year, it had over 6 million participants worldwide! This year, the Canadian Math Kangaroo Contest date is Sunday, March 23, 2014.
In this inaugural year, Brock University is inviting all mathematics teachers and educators to encourage interested students to register for the contest before the registration deadline of Wednesday, March 12, 2014. In the years to come, the Department of Mathematics & Statistics and the Faculty of Education looks forward to further promotion and expansion of the Math Kangaroo Contest in the Niagara region, as well as offering competition training at Brock University.
